Acknowledgment

“This we know: The earth does not belong to man, man belongs to the earth. This we know: all things are connected like the blood which unites one family. All things are connected.” -Chief Si’ahl (Seattle)

***This land acknowledgment is only a beginning, as we continue to learn.

We recognize that we dwell on the ancestral lands of Coast Salish Nations, original and current caretakers of this place now known as Seattle. We acknowledge and honor, with gratitude, the lands and waterways of the Coast Salish Nations. We acknowledge the traditional stewards of country throughout North America and their continuing connection to land, culture, and community, and we recognize those territories that are unceded.

We look to the following resources (an ever-growing list) for guidance and information:

U.S. Department of Arts and Culture

Native Governance Center

National Museum of the American Indian

Washington State Tribes

Indigenous Peoples' Day
